Last month I stumbled upon an exhibition of work by Mairin Kelly, Tom Joyce and Andy Mason at the Dunamaise Arts Centre. I was in Portarlington for the first time and wandering around the shops when I came upon the Arts Centre and was fascinated by this exhibition. I was very drawn to one piece by Mairin Kelly and discovered that she is based in East Clare, which is my new home, which may explain why I felt so drawn to her work. She uses peat and plantlife in her work , blurring the line between art and nature.
