Celebrating St Patrick’s Day

I really enjoyed the local St Patrick’s Day parade in Killaloe yesterday. This was my first time at a parade in about ten years, having long tired of the hassle of going when I was in Dublin. So, while there wasn’t the razzmatazz of the Dublin parade, I enjoyed being able to recognize the faces of the participants and the floats passing by.

Although it was a bit grey and overcast, the rain held off..always the big concern on a Paddy’s Day.   The event concluded with some set dancing and the first performance of the Ballina/Killaloe orchestra, who really got the crowd going.

Afterwards we popped into the nearest pub to wet the shamrock before making our way home to round off the day with some traditional bacon and colcannon for dinner.
