Being a child of the seventies and eighties, when sunscreen was hardly ever applied, or if it was, only SPF in single digits, I am now paying the price with sunspots on my face and hands. Not a good look, especially if you are also fighting off the early signs of wrinkles around the eyes. There is only so long you can call them laughter lines!
Apparently the juice of a lemon applied to these spots may fade them. And another natural remedy I read about is 1 teaspoon each of honey and plain yoghurt mixed together, applied and allowed to dry for 30 minutes. Do both of these daily, and the spots will fade. Finally an old wives tale for removing pigmentation….wipe with buttermilk once a day.
I haven’t tried any of these remedies yet, as I usually just lash on the old camoflague stick. Unfortuantely it is taking more and more of that to hide the pigmentation.
A word of caution here, melanoma, can take the appearance of age spots, so if you notice any significant changes to them, or they start to tingle, itch, change size of colour, please go see your GP and have them checked out.
